A Trip to Tilburg + Single-Serve PB Brownie Batter
Saturday
Arthur slept in until 7:30 on Saturday - 7:30! We’re unsure whether it was because Miklós slept in the room with him for the first time in weeks, if not months, or whether he was just tired. We’ll see - Miklós is crashing with him again tonight (the air mattress is aggravating his back), so if we’re lucky, the little bug will sleep in tomorrow as well!

We had another trip to Tilburg planned for the day, this time to choose out paint colors and meet with the painter. And oh my goodness, the car ride over couldn’t have gone better! Arthur spent about the first half hour in a very cheerful mood, smiling at me and giggling as I jammed to music in the car. Then he drifted off, and napped until we arrived. Amazing work, little dude!
He was, once again, a sweetie while we were in Tilburg, who saved all poops for when we got back to Maastricht. It was funny; when he saw the fig tree in our new garden, he knew exactly what it was about, and started grunting excitedly for some. He’s addicted! I don’t know what’s going to happen when it’s not in season.
We met the neighbors to the left of us as well - it’s a young gay couple who bought the house right before we bought ours! They’re very friendly, and like kids, so I think they’ll be more nice people for Arthur to grow up by.
The ride home was a bit rockier than the ride over - no napping and some mild fussing. My coke bottle and Sonia were the prime Arthur entertainers of the trip, as well as various snacks. But honestly, I can’t complain much about his behavior on the way back either. I’m not sure if he’s getting used to car rides, or growing out of the extreme-misery-in-the-car phase, but hopefully the next few car trips will go similarly well!
We arrived back in Maastricht at around 5:00, and Arthur was fairly reasonable, although as the evening wore on and he grew more tired, his behavior reflected that. Still, he was quite a good-natured little booger throughout the day, and I think I’ll have to give him another gold star. Great job today, Boobookins!
Sunday
Well, Arthur sort of slept in on Sunday, I guess - until 7:15. He didn't seem to realize Miklós was in the room for him, and seemed startled when his pops came to him without the door opening.

I'd say Arthur was kind of so-so throughout the morning when it came to his mood; easygoing at times, but not quite as relaxed as the past couple of days. Luckily, he got a good long nap in when I nursed him at 11 - I guess the bath beforehand didn't hurt!
The rest of the day was spent running errands and hanging out upstairs. He did get unusually fussy towards the end of our mid-day shopping run, though I think he may have just been hungry; he had a massive appetite for his lunch! I guess the fact that we skipped his 1:00 nursing session may have also contributed to that. He also ate quite a bit at his 5:00 snack as well, so he's been a well-fed boy today.
Arthur started to lose it during our video call with Oma in the evening; he really wanted to play the "Monsters" game with me, but when I wasn't complying readily enough, he got fairly worked up. Luckily his pops was able to jump in and rescue me from the clutches of my snippety spawn. But Arthur's mood didn't really improve. When Miklós thwarted his attempts to grab his wiener during a diaper change, he kind of lost it, and kept trying to reach it even after he was re-dressed. His inability to do so led to some spiraling, and he was full-on tantruming by the time we set him in his high chair for dinner.
Arthur refused to eat, and kept screaming, so I ended up having to sit with him on my lap while I ate, which finally seemed to calm him down. He kept rubbing food into my chest and arms, and trying to nurse, so it wasn't the most enjoyable experience for me, but at least he was more content. And finally, nursing him afterwards really settled him down. He's a simple guy - he just wants a wiener in his hand and a boob in his mouth.
Arthur began fussing and crying again after he was done with his bedtime susu - everything seemed to set him off, whether it was not being able to reach some item on my desk he wanted to play with or Miklós brushing his teeth (an activity he usually enjoys). I think he was exhausted; it probably didn't help that he hadn't had an afternoon nap. Plus, he'd been so great the whole week, I guess we were due a more difficult version of Arthur. Unsurprisingly, the little guy crashed pretty quickly when Miklós put him down.
Anyways, on Saturday and Sunday, we didn't do any cooking for dinner - just pre-made meals from Albert Heijn. But I did whip together a quick single-serve "brownie batter" for a snack! I just cobbled together a few ingredients we had that I thought would mix well together, and wasn't really sure how it would turn out. But it was absolutely lovely - I'm now dubbing myself a chef, even if it didn't require any cooking. And it's got quite a lot of protein in it, too, with no protein powder needed! Here's how I made it:
Single-Serve Chocolate Peanut Butter Brownie Batter

Ingredients
¼ cup Greek yogurt/skyr/quark
1 tbsp coconut flour
1 tbsp powdered peanut butter
1 tbsp cocoa powder
2 tbsp sugar/equivalent granulated sweetener (I used allulose)
pinch salt
(Very Complicated) Instructions
Mix everything together thoroughly, until combined.
Leave in the fridge for at least an hour.
Devour.
