Saturday
Arthur slept in until 7:30, a fact we were especially appreciative of because this was going to be a long day - we were off on our first flight with him! He got a nap in at his 10:00 nursing session, and then a walk with his dad before we left at around 12:30.

Honestly, everything went as smoothly as it could have! We got a seat on the train to Eindhoven, where I nursed Arthur and he napped. The bus from the station to the airport was pretty empty, and a post-nap Arthur was in a very cheerful mood. We got to the airport with plenty of time to spare before our 5:25 flight, and were able to have another nursing session and a diaper change before boarding the plane.
Arthur began to get restless towards boarding time - he was both tired and hungry. So, as soon as I was settled in my aisle seat (and a flight attendant had helped me buckle Arthur into his infant seatbelt for the first time - basically a second little loop that attached to my belt and went around his waist), I whipped out the boob and started nursing him. Arthur didn’t drink long before falling asleep - he crashed before the plane even took off. I was a bit nervous about that, because I keep hearing that it’s best to have babies nurse or suck on something during takeout and landing, to help their ears with the pressure changes. But despite not really sucking at all, Arthur slept right through takeoff and another half hour or so after!
He was pretty good throughout the rest of the flight, smiling and charming our seat mates, though he did fuss a bit when we started our descent. Gyuri thinks that’s a lot harder on the ears than the ascent, so that might be why. Plus the fact that he was fully awake and getting tired didn’t help.
Arthur’s grandparents were ecstatic to see him, and when we got there, wanted to toast our arrival, so Mama wasn’t going to be giving Arthur any booby milk for dinner. Instead, he ate an entire jar of baby food purée Nagymama had picked up for him, consisting of zucchini, tomato, and pasta. And then it was off to a late bedtime for Arthur.
So, on Saturday, Arthur only had one solid meal, but enough food at it to make up for the missed ones, and consisting of:
zucchini
tomato
pasta
Sunday
Arthur had a late night the previous night (9:30 or so?) and slept in until a little before 8:00. He was ok during his first nursing session, but fussed quite a bit during the 10:00 one. I’m not really sure if it’s because he wasn’t as comfortable in the new seat I was sitting in, or whether my milk supply was lower (I had undershot on my protein and calories the previous day, what with the traveling and all). Either way, I was nervous about navigating the day ahead with a sleep-deprived little bug. I hadn’t slept well the previous night, so he wasn’t the only tired person in the family on Easter Sunday.

Still, he was remarkably good-natured for the entire day. He actually napped in the car ride to Margit Sziget, right after his 10:00 nursing session. He got introduced there to Tiffany, Kristóf, and Ádám, and I nursed him against the monastery ruins there before we separated; I with Tiffany and Arthur with all of the Hungarians.
I showed Tiffany around Budapest’s parks instead of nursing Arthur at 3:00, so Miklós and co. gave him a pouch of apple/pear purée then to satiate him. He demolished it with quite a bit of a mess, apparently - an outfit change was involved.

We met back up at a Starbucks, where I nursed Arthur before he fell asleep, and then, as it was getting late, walked several blocks to the car holding him still clamped to my boob. I felt like a breastfeeding champion then, I have to say! He was quite the trooper during the car ride, pretty cheerful and curious, though he didn’t sleep. Still, he was in a remarkably good mood despite the lack of naps until dinner time, when we fed him some carrot-rice-salmon purée, which he seemed to like just fine, up until the point when he just was so exhausted that nothing could soothe him. So it was one last time on the boob before bedtime for bonzo.
Arthur’s Easter menu thus came to:
apple
pear
salmon (new food!)
sweet potato
Monday
A 7:00 wakeup for Arthur Newt. He was pretty grumpy for most of the morning, but luckily got a good nap in at his 10:00 nursing session. Unfortunately, that was the last nap he got for quite some time. The in-laws, Arthur, and I dropped Miklós off at the rock climbing gym and headed to the castle district. Arthur was not a happy camper during the car ride; I guess it was back to his typical sentiments about cars. He sobbed and screamed for half the ride there, and most of the ride back, being briefly soothed by my singing Mamma Mia!, chewing on my hair, and having Chicka Chicka Boom Boom read to him.

The area around the castle was beautiful, with the cherry trees along the promenade in full bloom. Some boys with tame pigeons offered them to us to hold, so Arthur got a closer look at a bird as well! And while he didn’t sleep in his stroller, he seemed pretty content in there for a while.
When we asked for a good seat in a café so I could nurse Arthur there, we were informed that nursing was only allowed in the bathroom. So I nursed Arthur on a bench outside; luckily the weather was beautiful so it was actually quite a nice location for it. Afterwards, we picked Miklós up from the gym, where he showed his son off to his climbing buddies, and then put up with another car ride full of Arthur screams, until he fell asleep during the last 15 minutes of it.
Unfortunately Arthur didn’t sleep during the 3:00 nursing session when we got home despite clearly being very tired. But he was pretty chill afterwards, and we experimented with feeding him some fruit, including two new fruit: mashed blueberries, strawberries, and grated apple! He ate them all happily, although wasn’t too terribly hungry at the time. Still, it was great to introduce him to berries, especially as blueberries are an allergen for his tía Kata, so probably best to introduce early.

In the late afternoon, several family friends came over for a while to meet Arthur and catch up. He was still quite easygoing, to my surprise, and was happy to just sit on my lap or Miklós’s for about an hour looking at all the new faces around him. When he started fussing around 5, I went upstairs to nurse him, and luckily he fell asleep then.
Miklós and I had a restaurant dinner date, so we left Arthur with the grandparents at a little after 6:00, and were gone until 7:30 or so. Arthur was fairly worked up when we got home; Jutka said that they had gone for a long walk and he had been pretty content during it, but was rather fussy by the time they got back, and not really interested in the salmon-carrot-rice purée she tried to feed him. So I clamped him right on the boob, where he started falling asleep pretty quickly. It had been a long day for him.
Which brings Arthur’s solid intake for the day to:
strawberries (new food!)
blueberries (new food!)
apple
I haven't been cooking in Hungary, but here's another yummy snack I made recently back at home - quick, healthier cinnamon rolls! Despite appearances, these were really tasty, although I think next time I would change the frosting - the yogurt was a bit too tangy for me. I’d be more inclined to either thin out cream cheese with some sweetener or do a powdered sweetener + milk glaze. Anyways, here's how I made them:
Healthier Quick Mini Cinnamon Rolls (serves 1)
Ingredients

Dough
50g whole grain spelt flour
1 tsp baking powder
40g Greek yogurt (I used soy yogurt)
sprinkle salt
½ tsp cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla
2 tbsp granulated sweetener
Filling
1 tsp margarine/ghee
1 tsp sweetener
½ tsp cinnamon
Frosting
2 tbsp yogurt of choice
1 tbsp sweetener of choice
Instructions
Use a fork to mix the dough ingredients.
With your hands, roll the dough into a ball.
Flour a surface and roll the dough out into a long rectangle.
Melt the margarine by microwaving it for 10 seconds.
Mix the sweetener and cinnamon for the filling into the melted margarine.
Brush this over the rectangle of dough..
Roll the dough lengthwise as tightly as possible.
Start at the end and cut 8-9 mini rolls from the dough.
Transfer to an oven-proof dish and place in the air fryer at 180 degrees Celsius for ~10 minutes.
Mix the frosting ingredients with a fork, then drizzle this over the rolls.
