Full Family Weekend + Beany "Cheesy" Pasta
Saturday
Arthur woke up at 6:50 on Papa’s first day home. He had a small breakfast with his pops before I got up and the little guy spent quite a while nursing on me. I think his dad’s presence has calmed him down to a certain extent; he was content in his room without us interacting with him for longer than he has been in a while.
And, for the first time in the past week and a half, he actually NAPPED on me during his late morning nursing session. Clearly, there was a connection there; it’s like now he feels safe enough to nap on me again. He also slept at least 45 minutes, so it was a longer nap than his past few stroller ones have been.

Arthur was in a great mood for the early afternoon, though that slowly devolved into fussing as the afternoon wore on. But when Miklós took him for a walk at 4, he took another nap, for about 40 minutes! He hasn’t had two naps in one day since before his pops left; once again, Miklós’s return is clearly calming him down quite a bit. I’m glad the little guy is catching up on some much-needed zzzs.
So Arthur was in a pretty good mood for the evening! Well-rested and well-fed, however, he didn’t have much of an appetite for dinner, which instead became a performance of playing with his food. These days, one of his favorite activities is to squirt water out of his mouth. Sometimes, if I’m lucky, he targets it at me. It’s quite delightful.
I thought perhaps bedtime would be a challenge since Arthur got a proper amount of sleep in over the course of the day, but Miklós was still able to put him to bed in just a few minutes before 8:00! Gosh, it was just such smooth sailing all day. And I had so many breaks, too…man, it’s nice to have Papa home.
Sunday
Sunday was a bit of an earlier start for Arthur Newt: 6:30. Though it was still dark outside, Miklós said the little bug showed no signs of going back to sleep. Despite the early morning, he was in a pretty good mood throughout the morning, and once again took a good long nap at me when I nursed him in the late morning - over an hour!

He was a pretty cheerful fellow for most of the day; I guess being well-rested helps. We played with the singing cactus, read books, ate a lot, and his dadadada took him for a couple of walks, one of which was in the pouring rain. But Arthur stayed dry and tasty with his stroller rain cover, while his father returned looking like a drowned rat.
Because of the wet weather, Arthur didn't get a second walk or a second nap in. I think he could have used one, though; he grew giddy-tired as the afternoon and evening wore on. At one point, he went into hysterics playing a game of sorts where he would crawl over to his diaper pail and pull up using it to stand, drumming on the bin with his hands. He would then wait (cracking up with anticipation) for me to go and grab him and bring him somewhere with less dirty diapers. It was pretty funny.
Once again, Arthur didn't have much of an appetite after lunch, for his afternoon tea or for his dinner. But he was certainly thirsty, guzzling first water from his sippy cup, then susu from his mama. After that, Miklós put him to bed very quickly; at first it seemed to have gone seamlessly but two minutes later we heard screaming from Arthur's room. Luckily this lasted all of ten seconds before he settled down, hopefully for the night!
Today, Papa's return meant a return of his signature sweet potato quiche. On Saturday, I cooked the pesto pasta I had made earlier, though I swapped the cottage cheese for cream cheese, since the store was out, and served it warm. It was great that way, too! But I want to post another pasta recipe I made ages ago, but never got around to putting here. It was, shockingly, based on yet another CCK recipe. I love all the ways she incorporates beans into her recipes! I don't think I really changed anything with this one, and it was great! I'll have to cook it again sometime. Here's how I made it:
Cheesy Beany Pasta (serves 2 hungry parents)

Ingredients
250g pasta of choice (I used red lentil pasta for some bean on bean action)
1 cup cooked white beans
½ cup milk of choice (I used barista oat)
5 tbsp nutritional yeast
1 tsp salt
⅛ tsp garlic powder
½ tsp white or apple cider vinegar
2 tsp buttery spread or olive oil
sprinkle of paprika (optional, not in the original recipe)
pinch MSG (optional, not in the original recipe)
Instructions
Drain and rinse your beans if they are canned.
Add everything to a blender and blend blend blend!
Cook your pasta according to package.
Warm the sauce in a pot over low heat, stirring until warm.
Mix in the pasta and add more milk if needed.
Continue heating until everything is warmed through, and serve!
